General Motors has paired up with Clairvoyant Energy, Veolia Environmental and the Government of Aragon, to build the largest rooftop solar array in the world.
The solar power plan will extend over 2 million square feet, summing up about 85,000 solar panels and being able to deliver up to 12MW, easily surpassing the present record by over 9MW. The giant solar power plant will be built on the rooftop of Zaragosa assembly plant in Spain. General Motors is thus trying to reduce electricity costs while using green energy for a cleaner environment. General Motors is already using solar energy from two rooftop solar arrays mounted on two warehouses in California.
Let’s hope their efforts to use cleaner energy will spread the other major companies which are also great polluters.
