The new eco friendly series of ASUS laptops, that is part of the Green ASUS project, raises a question mark.
The name Bamboo comes from the casing and touchpad that are made of bamboo. But if they are made of bamboo, doesn’t that mean you have to cut down trees to make this laptop?
Well, this gadget is still eco friendly because bamboos take a lot less to grow, around 3-5 years, compared to 30-50 years that other trees take. And they also regenerate after cuting. That just leaves the effort of gathering the bamboo for mass production, but in such a way that it can still regenerate.
As for technology, we have the ASUS Super Hybrid Engine that combines Smart Step power management with Hybrid Power 4 Gear. There are two versions that come with different displays, 11.1″ and 12.1″, both LED backlit. The difference widens when we continue with the specs.
The 11.1″ weighs 1.25kg, has 1.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, power saving GMA X3100, up to 4GB DDR2 RAM (667 MHz), HDD PATA up to 120 GB or 32 GB SDD and is equipped with WiFi, 8 in 1 card reader and web cam.
12.1″ display comes with 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T9400, GeForce 9300M GS 256 MB, 4GB DDR2 RAM (800 MHz), SATA HDD up to 320 GB. Wi-Fi, web cam, all this weighs 1.57 kg.
