Innowattech, an Israeli company, has come with a rather ethically challenging idea. They intend on placing piezoelectric generators under the road to use the kinetic energy the vehicles produce.
What may seem at first glance an innocent attempt to generate clean energy, may cause upset for the general tax burdened population. A big question arises: “If I am paying for my car, for the gas it runs on and for the piezoelectric generators, would I still have to pay for the electricity that my car produces?” While most of my articles have a subjective mark to them, I would like to remain objective to this and let whoever is reading offer their opinion.
All in all, Innowattech says that 1 mile of piezoelectric highway will generate 800kilowatts of electricity. That is a considerable ammount of energy. What do you think? Is this project a step forward?
