Walmart
The Walmart monolith is planing to buy energy from one of the new wind farms in Texas. Actually, they are so committed to renewable energy that they intend on buying all of the energy from that windfarm.
The power will go, in case the agreement is settled, to 360 Texas stores and should provide 15% of their necesities. Whether this change for a greener Walmart will happen is still unknown, as it very much depends on the normal energy costs.
It does not come as a shock that the corporate monolith cares so much about prices, but there is always a good side to anything. Since they are great energy consumers, they will tighten the competition between energy producers.
One thing is for sure. Walmart says they are fully committed to the renewable energy concept and will make all the efforts to change to it … as long as it is cheaper.
